Blog Setup

What is “blog setup?”

Alakai Innovations will set you up with a WordPress blog that is easy to use. We can add a theme that appeals to you, as well as various other things to ensure your time is spared. The packages below will help you decide. We support both WP hosted (wordpress.com) and third-party hosted (wordpress.org) sites.

Please be aware that this is not custom web page design, but a basic web page could be set up using this process as well. The Alakai Innovations website was setup using WordPress with the help of SEOwhat.com. If you are looking for a full web page design experience, we recommend them. They are experts in Web Page Design as well as Search Engine Optimization.

WordPress.com v. WordPress.org: Which is for me?

WordPress.org is used for people who wish to download and possibly customize their blog or website. If you already have a host for your domain, we will gladly add and set up a blog/website for you. All we need is FTP access. If you are not sure if you have FTP access, simply contact your domain host (if you have one). If you purchase a domain, you can have http://www.your-name.com and link it to the blog. Otherwise, you may be able to use a subdomain, though your host may need to help you with doing so. Once we have FTP access, we can setup your account quickly. The benefit of WordPress.org is that you have your own domain and the blog/website is also allowed the ability to use plug-ins. To read more about the features, visit WordPress.org.

WordPress.com is used for people who wish to setup a quick and easy blog or website without too much customization. Themes are still available, but this one comes with free hosting. While you can pay WordPress to give you a domain name, it’s costly. This will be http://www.your-name.wordpress.com, which isn’t anything to worry about.

If you are still unsure which is for you, simply contact us and we will assist you in choosing.

The packages provided by Alakai Innovations are meant to fit your needs. The WordPress.org prices are ideally a little higher, as they allow for more customization and more processes upon setup.
